Women’s good health and well being are the most precious things because she is a JANANI (gives birth to a human life). Health of the family revolves around the woman directly or indirectly. She is facing a lot of health issues because of the increasing demand of present time challenges. Her body is not able to cope up with it and she suffers various kinds of problems. Women’s most vulnerable area is her reproductive system and the hormonal fluctuation. Some of the most prevalent diseases among women are as follows.

Anemia-It is the lack of blood. It is a condition in which number of red blood cells in blood is low. Anemia is actually a sign of a disease process rather than a disease itself. It is usually related to poor nutrition, pregnancy, lactation and heavy bleeding therefore commonly found in women. Regular symptoms are weakness, dizziness, shortness of breath, heavy periods and pale or cold skin.  A good diet rich in iron is essential for prevention of anemia.

Fibroids- These are growths of tissue usually found in the wall of uterus. Mostly theses are benign tumors. They often shrink after menopause and occur in women between ages 30-50 although women in their 20’s sometimes have them also. For many women fibroids cause no problems. Common symptoms are heavy and long periods,   pressure on other organs such as bowels, urinary bladder.

Fibro-adenoma– is a benign breast growth dominant   in teenage girls and women under the age of thirty. The presence of a fibro- adenoma mass in a breast often causes women anxiety and concern, partly because people equate any type of breast lump with cancer. Fibro-adenoma carries a very slight risk for future breast cancer. Regular medical examination may detect the problem early.

Fibro-myalgia- It is a common and chronic disorder characterized by widespread muscle pain, fatigue, (feeling tired) and multiple tender points, disturbed sleep, morning stiffness.

Menses related– This is the foremost complaint among females when a girl steps into the womanhood. It is termed as puberty and the first menses is called menarche. The periods are often irregular at the start of puberty, when approaching menopause and after lactation. It is merely an indication of hormonal changes associated with the particular time of life or condition. Take medical help to identify the normal changes.

Menopause – It is the absence of menstrual period for 12 months. It is a time in a women’s life when the functions of ovaries ceases. The average age for menopause is 51 yrs .but most women reach menopause between the ages of 45-55yrs. The symptoms of menopause are highly individualistic. Majority complain of irregular, heavy vaginal bleeding, hot flashes (it is a feeling of warmth that spread over the body and is more pronounced over head and chest), night sweats, vaginal dryness, itching, urinary symptoms such as frequent urging, infections and leakage of urine. Apart from these physical symptoms various emotional symptoms are also experienced such as irritability, fatigue, and mood swings. Homoeopathy can help the patient to keep the symptoms under control.

Migraine- It is much more than headache. It is a neurological condition which has got a range of symptoms. It is a very debilitating headache which can make the person incapacitated for couple of days to a week. Mostly women neglect this understanding it just a simple headache and keeps on taking OTC (over the counter) drugs which is very harmful. With homoeopathic treatment migraine can be addressed very well.

Obesity –It is a condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to such an extent that health may be negatively affected. With rates of adult and childhood obesity increasing, it is viewed as a serious health hazard. Especially in women according to research obesity is a major contributing factor in the development of PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease). It is a hormonal disorder affecting 1 in 10 women of reproductive age and is a leading cause of infertility.

Osteoarthritis- It is the breakdown of cartilage (a cushion like soft structure) in the joints. It is mostly age related and so is progressive in course. The main symptoms are pain, swelling and immobility of joints. The treatment should be based on curative as well as preventive aspect. Maintenance of weight, a well nourished diet and exercise play a very important role. Homoeopathy deals it very well giving therapeutic as well as preventive support.

Osteoporosis- is a disease characterized by low bone mass and structural deterioration of bone tissue, leading to bone fragility and an increased risk of fractures of the hip, spine, and wrist. Osteoporosis is often called a silent disease because bone loss occurs without any symptoms. People may not know that they have osteoporosis until their bones become so weak that sudden strain, bump, or fall causes a hip to fracture or a vertebra to collapse. Since its incidence increases after menopause, is common in women. A well balanced diet full of green leafy vegetables, fruits, milk and milk products can contribute a lot for the prevention.

Thyroid disorder- This is a problem very commonly found among females. Thyroid disorders are mainly because of excess or deficiency of thyroid hormones. In majority of cases it is the deficiency of thyroid hormone which leads to hypothyroidism. Common symptoms of which are fatigue, constipation, weight gain, mood swings, dry skin, body ache, pain, stiffness and swelling of joints etc.

Vaginal discharges- Many women suffer from this annoying condition once or more in their lifetime. If discharge is clear and nonirritating it is not alarming however if it becomes heavy, thick, blood stained or changes color causing burning and irritation please don’t postpone to seek medical help.

Preventive and therapeutic role of homoeopathy

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine, based on an understanding of the interconnection between mind and body. It is a safe and effective system of medicine that helps to heal mind and body. Homoeopathy makes the patient healthier not just by fighting symptoms but also by addressing the root problem i.e. an imbalance in the body. There are  numerous homoeopathic medicines to treat women’s discomfort without having adverse effects of overmedication. They have to be treated in a very gentle manner and homoeopathic medicines take care of women’s health at all the three levels physical, emotional and mental.

Above mentioned problems can be dealt with homoeopathy effectively alone or in combination of conventional system of medicine. Both the system of medicine can complement each other.

Genuine health is the perfect functioning of the tripod of Body, Mind & Soul. In an era where society is reeling under materialism and competition people have forgotten their inner-self and I firmly believe if people can make flexible adjustment to the changing demands of environment and incorporate some form of meditation or spiritual reading combined with positive thoughts and physical activity to their daily routine they can combat this stress syndrome and instill peace into their life. Emphasis should be more on wellness rather than illness.
